Privacy policy

Tareova (“we”, “us”) helps Nigerian landlords manage rent, tenants and repairs. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act.
Who controls your data
When a landlord uses Tareova to manage their property, that landlord decides how their tenants’ and agents’ information is used — they are the data controller, and Tareova is the processor acting on their instructions. For your own account details, and for the running of the Tareova service itself, Tareova is the controller.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and phone number, and your role (owner, agent or tenant).
- Property & tenancy information — properties, units, tenancies, rent amounts and schedules, and related documents such as lease agreements.
- Payment records — the amount, date and status of rent payments. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider (Paystack); Tareova never sees or stores your full card or bank credentials.
- Maintenance evidence — photos or short videos of repairs, which may include the time and approximate location of capture, so owners can trust that work was really done.
- Technical data — basic information needed to keep you logged in and to keep the service secure and reliable.
Why we use it
To provide the service you asked for (tracking rent, sending receipts and reminders, managing repairs); to keep the service secure and prevent fraud; and to meet legal obligations — in particular, keeping accurate financial records.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run Tareova:
- Paystack — to process rent payments.
- Resend — to send emails (receipts, reminders).
- Termii — to send SMS and WhatsApp messages.
- Supabase & Vercel — to host the application and store data securely. Your data is stored in the European Union.
How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit. Access is enforced at the database level so one landlord can never see another’s data, and tenants and agents see only what concerns them. Maintenance photos are kept in private storage and shared only through short-lived, signed links. Every important change is written to a tamper-evident audit record.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Financial records (such as payments and receipts) are kept for as long as the law requires us to, even after an account is closed — so they may be retained, in a form that no longer identifies you, after a deletion request.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access and export a copy of your data — from Profile → Your data → Download my data.
- Correct your details — from your Profile.
- Delete your account — from Profile → Your data. We remove your login and personal details; financial records we are legally required to keep are retained without information that identifies you.
Cookies
We use only the essential cookies needed to keep you securely logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Children
Tareova is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
